Zelensky Refuses to Apologize to Trump, Emphasizing the Importance of U.S. Support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he has no intention of apologizing to Donald Trump, noting that his visit to the U.S. itself was a gesture of respect.
In his video address, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine deeply values U.S. support and continually expresses gratitude for assistance in preserving its independence.
"Of course, we understand the importance of America and are grateful for all the support we have received from the United States. There has not been a single day when we have not felt gratitude. This is gratitude for preserving our independence—our resilience in Ukraine is built on what our partners do for us, and for their own security as well," Zelensky stated.
He also noted that the dispute between him and Trump has not benefited either side, but he sees no reason to apologize.
This comment comes amid growing discussions about potential changes in U.S. policy if Trump returns to power. The former U.S. president has repeatedly expressed skepticism about continued military aid to Ukraine and has hinted at the possibility of reassessing American support.
Reactions to Zelensky’s statement in U.S. political circles remain mixed. Some see it as a show of confidence, while others view it as a risk to future relations with a possible new administration in Washington.
