April 2025 promises a rich selection for gamers. While there are no headline AAA titles, the month brings several anticipated releases, sequels, and remasters — from tactical strategy and psychological horror to JRPGs with philosophical themes and post-apocalyptic action.

One of the most notable launches is South of Midnight (April 8), where players become a Fate Spinner in a Southern Gothic world. Its unique visual style and dark atmosphere promise a captivating journey. The next day brings Commandos: Origins (April 9), a reimagining of the classic WWII strategy game with updated mechanics and co-op gameplay.

For fans of philosophical JRPGs, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (April 24) blends turn-based combat and action, exploring mortality and deep existential themes, all wrapped in Belle Époque-inspired aesthetics.

Lovers of Lovecraftian horror will appreciate Stygian: Outer Gods (April 14), a direct sequel to Reign of the Old Ones, set in the grim town of Kingsport, featuring madness, darkness, and survival mechanics. Meanwhile, Mandragora (April 17) combines 2.5D soulslike combat and metroidvania exploration in a world ravaged by mysterious Entropy.

Classic horror fans should watch for Post Trauma (April 22), a psychological nightmare following a train conductor in a surreal realm. RTS enthusiasts can look forward to Tempest Rising (April 24), a return to Command & Conquer-style real-time strategy with modern visuals.

Early Access titles include Gedonia 2 (April 9), a solo/co-op RPG focused on player freedom, and Hollywood Animal (April 10), a Hollywood studio simulator packed with drama and economic strategy.

Notable remasters and remakes include:
The Last of Us Part II Remastered (April 3) with visual upgrades and new content;
The Talos Principle: Reawakened (April 10), a philosophical puzzle in UE5;
Amerzone: The Explorer’s Legacy (April 24), a tribute to Benoît Sokal’s legacy;
Days Gone Remastered (April 25), a refreshed take on the biker-zombie apocalypse.

From dark fantasy to strategy and JRPGs, indie gems to polished remasters — April is a great month to try something new.
