US urges Russia to consider cessation of hostilities
US Secretary of State Rubio stated that negotiations are the only way to resolve the situation in Ukraine.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on Russia to consider the possibility of halting hostilities in Ukraine and is awaiting a response from Moscow. He emphasized that a peaceful resolution is only possible through negotiations. According to him, this is the only path that can lead to regional stability and the cessation of violence. In his speech, Rubio stated that the US is ready for dialogue and views negotiations as the most important tool to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Negotiations between the countries remain on the agenda, and Washington is focused on continuing efforts in this direction. Rubio also added that the US is ready to take steps to speed up the negotiation process, including through direct interaction with Moscow. However, the situation remains tense, and it is unclear when dialogue between the parties will begin.
American diplomats emphasize that negotiations are key to stopping the violence and resolving the conflict in Ukraine, and without them, further progress toward peace is impossible. Rubio made this statement amid ongoing hostilities and escalating tensions in the region. The US hopes that Moscow will respond to the ceasefire call and begin serious negotiations aimed at ending the hostilities.
Additionally, the US Secretary of State did not confirm information about a possible visit by Trump's special envoy Steve Whitcoff to Russia, but stated that Washington would reach out to Moscow to discuss ways to resolve the conflict. According to Bloomberg, Whitcoff plans to visit Russia to meet with President Putin, which could be an important step in the peace negotiations process, potentially accelerating progress toward ending the conflict.
Rubio noted that the US will continue to work with Russia to ensure that the agenda includes not only issues related to cessation of hostilities but also a broader range of problems, including security, humanitarian aid, and infrastructure restoration in Ukraine.
