U.S. Special Representative Amos Hochstein said that compliance with resolution 1701 by Lebanon and Israel is not enough to ensure sustainable peace. He stressed that the United States will continue negotiations with both sides to achieve a ceasefire and full implementation of the resolution.
U.S. Special Representative Amos Hochstein issued a statement on the need for Lebanon and Israel to fully comply with and implement resolution 1701 in order to achieve long-term peace in the region. He noted that the current measures to comply with the resolution are insufficient to ensure a sustainable truce. Hinstein assured that the United States will continue to actively participate in negotiations with both sides, seeking a deeper settlement of the conflict and a ceasefire.
