On November 26, Brett McGurk, coordinator of the U.S. National Security Council for the Middle East and North Africa, will arrive in Riyadh for talks with the Saudi authorities on a cease-fire in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
On November 26, 2024, the coordinator of the White House National Security Council for the Middle East and North Africa, Brett McGurk, will visit Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The purpose of the visit is to discuss with the Saudi authorities the possibility of using a potential ceasefire agreement in Lebanon as a catalyst for a similar truce in the Gaza Strip. In addition, it is planned to discuss the return of hostages and strengthening stability in the region.
The Deputy Press Secretary of the White House, Andrew Bates, confirmed these plans, stressing the importance of coordinating efforts with key regional partners to achieve sustainable peace and security in the Middle East.
This visit reflects the desire of the United States to intensify diplomatic efforts in the region, using Saudi Arabia's influence to promote peace initiatives and resolve humanitarian crises in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
Earlier it was reported that the Israeli government generally approved a draft ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in Lebanon, which could be an important step towards reducing tensions in the region. McGurk's talks with Saudi officials are expected to further advance these initiatives and strengthen regional stability.
