Türkiye will not be able to cut off Azerbaijani and Kazakh oil supplies to Israel, Turkish official says
A Turkish official said Turkey cannot cut off supplies of Azeri and Kazakh oil to Israel because it does not control the oil or pipelines, despite protests in the country.
A Turkish official has commented on the ongoing protests demanding that President Erdogan cut off oil supplies to Israel, saying that Turkey cannot do so. According to him, the country does not own the oil or the pipeline that supplies oil to Israel. The official stressed that the supply of Azerbaijani and Kazakh oil remains outside Turkey's control.
According to Oil Change International, from October 21, 2023 to July 12, 2024, 28% of oil supplied to Israel came from Azerbaijan. This underlines the importance of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan as key oil suppliers to Israel, despite political pressure and calls for Turkey to take action.
Protests in Turkey continue, but the government has made it clear that it has no power to influence these supplies.
