According to Bloomberg, the Turkish authorities intend to adopt a law on foreign agents, which will be aimed at restricting the activities of those who act against the security of the state or its internal and foreign policy interests under the influence or at the direction of foreign states or organizations. The bill provides for a penalty of up to seven years in prison for violating its provisions. The Turkish parliament is expected to consider this bill in the coming days. Representatives of civil society and media groups express concern about the possible suppression of dissent and freedom of speech in the event of the adoption of this law.
