US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Tulsi Gabbard, a former congressman and participant in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, to the post of Director of National Intelligence. According to Trump, Gabbard has a "fearless spirit" that she will bring to the community coordinating the work of 18 American intelligence agencies. Gabbard is known as a critic of American foreign policy. In the past, she has openly expressed support for Israel and actively advocated for a review of the US approach to Middle East conflicts.
