Criticism of Major Powers and Kazakhstan's Role

Tokayev pointed out that leading global powers had failed to ensure international security, leaving the UN Security Council at a standstill.

“The UN is absolutely essential for humanity, there is no alternative, but without bridges between nations, the organization is powerless,” Tokayev stated.

He emphasized the importance of middle-power nations like Kazakhstan in shaping a new global stability framework. According to Tokayev, these countries can serve as mediators to foster dialogue among major powers.

Parallels in Global Politics

While Tokayev was delivering his speech, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in France to meet Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump. Notably, just two days earlier, Tokayev had a phone conversation with Trump.

Analysts speculate that the war in Ukraine may have been a topic of discussion. Kazakhstan, maintaining a delicate balance between Russia, China, and the West, is seen as a significant player in today’s international diplomacy.

Astana as a Possible Negotiation Platform

Experts suggest the possibility of Astana hosting talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. Kazakhstan has already proven its neutrality as a negotiation venue, as seen in the Astana process on Syria.

Julia Chatterley from CNN highlighted Tokayev’s diplomatic experience and expressed confidence that he could play a pivotal role in fostering compromise to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Challenges and Opportunities for Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan finds itself navigating a complex geopolitical landscape, balancing relations with Russia and China while strengthening ties with the West. Tokayev’s active engagement on the international stage underscores his vision for global reforms.

As his speech in Doha demonstrated, Kazakhstan continues to position itself as a bridge between East and West, aiming to mediate key global conflicts.
