The US senator called for sanctions against the ICC for arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant
Senator Lindsey Graham condemned the actions of the International Criminal Court and proposed sanctions against it for issuing arrest warrants for Israeli leaders.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has sharply criticized the International Criminal Court (ICC) after the court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant. Graham said:
"The International Criminal Court acted in the most absurd and irresponsible way by issuing arrest warrants for the Prime Minister and former Israeli Defense Minister, while a cloud of charges hangs over the prosecutor who requested these warrants. Now it's time for the U.S. Senate to act and sanction this irresponsible body." Earlier, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant, accusing them of crimes against humanity and war crimes related to Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip. Graham's statement reflects the concern of a number of American politicians about the ICC's actions against Israeli leaders and raises the question of possible retaliatory measures from the United States.
