John Feiner, Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security, spoke about the growing threat from Pakistan's missile program. At an event at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, he stressed that Islamabad's missile buildup could allow it to strike targets outside South Asia, including the United States.

The United States has already imposed a new package of sanctions against Pakistan related to its ballistic missile program. According to unnamed sources from the US government, the size of the engines being developed for the rockets is of particular concern.

Pakistan reacted sharply to Washington's actions, calling the sanctions "biased" and accusing the United States of double standards. Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned that such moves could undermine regional stability and confidence in international arms control agreements.

Islamabad also said that its missile program is intended solely to ensure national security, and accused the United States of politicizing nonproliferation issues. Tension between the two countries continues to grow, threatening security in the region and beyond.
