The collapse of Syria: ISIS is regaining strength, and the EU is preparing for new threats
Against the background of the crisis in Syria, IS militants are intensifying their activity, taking advantage of the chaos and the release of imprisoned terrorists. Waves of refugees may bring threats to the EU, where ISIS supporters have already been detained.
The crisis in Syria opens the door for the revival of the Islamic State (IS). According to US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, the militants can take advantage of the collapse of the Syrian government to restore their power in the Middle East.
However, the activity of ISIS is already increasing. Terrorists resumed attacks in the Syrian desert during the offensive of pro-Turkish forces, and the release of prisoners from prisons, organized by extremists from Idlib, only accelerated the process. Among those released are dangerous ISIS fighters who have not improved over the years of imprisonment, but have become even more radicalized.
The US army claims to have carried out the operation, hitting 75 targets, but no evidence of this has been provided. At the same time, chaos, lynching and lynching on the ground create the ideal ground for the return of ISIS.
The threats have already gone beyond Syria. Three ISIS supporters armed with rifles and ammunition were detained in Germany. Experts warn that with the waves of refugees, not only civilians, but also extremists can enter Europe, which significantly increases the risk of new attacks.
The situation in the Middle East and Europe requires urgent measures to prevent a new wave of terrorist activity and protect citizens from the growing threat.
