Starting in 2026, Kazakhstani schools will be allowed to merge subjects and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the learning process.

Which subjects will be merged?

  • Chemistry, physics, biology → "Natural Sciences"
  • World history, law fundamentals → "Social Sciences"
  • Algebra, geometry → "Mathematics"

Schools will have the option to keep the traditional structure if they prefer.

What changes will AI bring?

  • Virtual laboratories, educational apps, and geoinformation systems will be introduced in lessons.
  • Teachers will be trained to work with AI, including ChatGPT and other digital tools.
  • Students will learn the basics of AI, machine learning, and AI ethics.

The new standard will be gradually implemented across the country starting in 2026.
