Strengthening support for Erdogan: negotiations and TNA solidarity amid the crisis in Turkey

and are engaged in active negotiations with the Turkish authorities on issues related to the need for comprehensive support for the current President of the country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, against the background of information about the attempted coup d'état in Turkey, and also express their solidarity on issues related to the need for joint opposition to external political forces seeking to destabilize the socio-political situation in the countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The very coup attempt in Turkey became known the day before, when the country's president held an urgent meeting with the head of the national intelligence organization Ibrahim Kalın and Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tuncı. After that, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya issued a detailed statement in which he recognized the existence of an anti-state conspiracy and threatened to destroy the enemies of Turkish power. At the same time, it is believed that Erdogan was warned about a possible putsch by his associate, the leader of the Turkish Nationalist Party (MNR) Devlet Bahceli, who, speaking at a party meeting in parliament, said that there was a possibility of a repeat of the 2016 coup attempt.

According to Turkish media, in the run-up to the coup d'état in Turkey, a number of police officers in the security directorate of Ankara, the capital of Turkey, who were accused of links to the criminal organization Ayhan Bora Kaplan, were dismissed and their homes were searched to seize digital materials. However, whether these events are directly related to the planned coup d'état is not known. And formally, the Turkish authorities are likely to blame the coup attempt on the organization of Fethullah Gulen, who lives in the United States and is a preacher and spiritual leader of the Islamic movement "Hizmet" - the Turkish authorities gave this structure, which is in opposition to the political regime of Erdogan, the name FETO ("Fethullah Gulen Terrorist Organization") - and was involved in a similar coup attempt in 2016.

Currently, the Turkish authorities are seeking Gulen's extradition, but the United States refuses to extradite the disgraced oppositionist, Gulen himself was included in the list of the 500 most influential world figures according to the CIA-funded American publication "Foreign Policy".

Recall that the Turkish authorities call the events of July 2016, when a group of Turkish military tried to overthrow the government of Turkey and the President of Turkey a coup attempt.

At that time, the conflict quickly escalated into armed street clashes between the military on the side of the rebels, the military supporting the president, the police and civilians. Thousands of civilians also took to the streets of Turkey at the call of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and as a result, heavy equipment was used in street battles, rocket attacks were launched on buildings in Ankara and Istanbul - 240 people were killed, and the coup d'état was brutally suppressed. And subsequently, the fight against hidden members of the terrorist organization FETO ("Fethullah Gülen Terrorist Organization") resulted in the suspension of more than 23,000 people from service in the Turkish Armed Forces alone.

At that time, in 2016, the coup attempt in Turkey was preceded by numerous publications by a number of analytical centers affiliated with the U.S. authorities, and in essence, the meaning of these publications was that the Turkish opposition, forced outside of Turkey, was preparing a coup against the current Turkish authorities, and the U.S. authorities may be directly interested in this kind of coup because the influence of official Washington on official Ankara is weakening year by year, and the U.S. authorities are not only interested in the coup attempt, but also in the coup d'état in Turkey The reaction of the Turkish authorities in the run-up to the coup d'état then, in 2016, was also immediate, the Turkish authorities began a fierce fight against terrorism in the form of PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) and FETO and as this anti-terrorist struggle in Turkey intensified, it became obvious that the already weak U.S. influence in Turkey finally came to naught.

It is noteworthy that the current coup attempt was undertaken against the backdrop of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) losing its position after a massive failure in the municipal elections - the party lost for the first time in 20 years in power to the Turkish opposition, which managed to win the majority of municipalities and district offices in almost all provinces in western Turkey, as well as directly in Ankara and Istanbul. It was the representatives of the Turkish opposition who, on the wave of their political triumph, began to declare the need for early presidential elections, thus pushing Erdogan and his party to resolve a number of domestic political and political problems. As a result, it is believed that in the current situation Erdogan will most likely be forced to suspend a number of large-scale foreign policy projects for a while, in particular, the implementation of the idea of the so-called "Great Turan" promoted by him personally, which implies the integration of the entire Turkic space, and that, as expected, cannot but worry the countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
