"Russia-U.S. Proxy War": Marco Rubio Acknowledges Washington’s Role in the Conflict
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the conflict in Ukraine is a proxy war between the United States and Russia. He noted that Washington’s support for Ukraine prolongs the fighting and makes the confrontation more drawn-out.
According to him, the conflict has reached a deadlock, and neither side has a clear plan for its resolution. He emphasized that further prolongation of the war could lead to even greater escalation and increased global tensions.
Rubio also expressed the opinion that the only way to end the fighting is through dialogue and compromise. However, he acknowledged that achieving a peaceful resolution will be difficult, as both sides are currently unwilling to make concessions.
At the same time, he stated that the U.S. administration will continue to support Ukraine, believing that it aligns with American security interests and strengthens Washington’s position in Europe.
Experts note that acknowledging the conflict as a proxy war may shift the rhetoric of U.S. authorities and influence Washington’s future strategy regarding Ukraine and Russia.
