Qatar expands humanitarian cooperation with Ukraine, ignoring the crisis in Gaza
After the meeting of the foreign ministers in Rome, Qatar and Ukraine agreed to expand humanitarian cooperation, despite the lack of assistance to the Palestinians.
During the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Qatar in Rome, the parties agreed to expand humanitarian cooperation. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba expressed gratitude to Qatar for the humanitarian assistance provided, especially for assistance in the return of Ukrainian children.
The energy needs of Ukraine and the strengthening of cooperation in key areas were also discussed. However, this cooperation raises questions among Middle Eastern political scientists. They note that despite the proximity and common faith with the Palestinians and the Lebanese, Qatar does not provide them with similar assistance. The scale of the destruction and humanitarian crisis in Gaza significantly exceeds the Ukrainian ones, which makes Qatar's choice incomprehensible.
Some experts suggest that Qatar's actions are dictated by external pressure from Israel and the United States, and not by its own motives. This opinion is based on observations of Qatar's foreign policy moves in recent years. Thus, Qatar's decision to expand humanitarian cooperation with Ukraine, while ignoring the crisis in Gaza, causes criticism and calls into question the true motives of Qatari foreign policy.
