Orban accused the EU of trying to stage a coup in Hungary — statement by the prime Minister
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the European Union is seeking to change the Hungarian authorities, increasing pressure after its presidency of the European Council. He also noted that the EU rejected Hungary's proposed plan for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused the European Union of trying to stage a "coup d'etat" in the country, saying that Brussels is seeking to replace the Hungarian government with a puppet one. Orban stressed that tensions between Budapest and the EU have intensified after Hungary took over the presidency of the European Council. In addition, Orban said that the EU rejected Hungary's proposed plan for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, which, in his opinion, aggravated the differences between Budapest and Brussels.
