According to sources, Russia and the U.S. are continuing dialogue on restoring bilateral relations, and a new round of negotiations may take place in one of the Persian Gulf countries.
Negotiations Between the U.S. and Russia
The first round of consultations took place on February 18 in Saudi Arabia. Now, Moscow hopes that the growing tensions between Trump and Zelensky will divert Washington’s attention away from Ukraine and allow a focus on mutually beneficial economic deals with Russia.
On February 12, Trump and Putin held their first phone call since the start of the war in Ukraine. According to Trump, they agreed to "work together" and discussed the possibility of visiting each other. This marked the beginning of informal rapprochement between the two countries.
The Conflict Between Trump and Zelensky
On February 28, a meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky took place at the White House, ending in a public dispute. The Ukrainian president left the talks early, and the planned agreement on mineral extraction was never signed.
Following the incident, Zelensky stated that Kyiv does not want to lose U.S. support but has no intention of apologizing to Trump. The next day, he traveled to London to participate in a peace summit and meet with King Charles III.

Against the backdrop of disagreements between the U.S. and Ukraine, Moscow is optimistic about improving relations with Washington. The Kremlin believes that a new Trump administration will be pragmatic and seek to reduce tensions with Russia.
