France remains the only nuclear power in the EU following the UK's departure from the bloc. Macron emphasized that amid growing threats, Europe must be prepared to defend itself independently without relying solely on the U.S. and NATO. In this regard, he proposed discussing the use of France’s nuclear capabilities as a tool for the collective defense of European nations.

The French president also made several remarks concerning the conflict in Ukraine and global security. He reaffirmed that France and its allies will continue supporting Ukraine so it can achieve peace on its own terms. Macron rejected any ceasefire imposed under Russian conditions, stating that Moscow cannot dictate security terms to Europe.

According to Macron, Russia plans to mobilize 3 million soldiers and build 4,000 tanks by 2030. In response, he stressed the need to strengthen Europe’s military forces and significantly invest in the defense industry so that the EU can independently ensure its security.

Macron also emphasized France’s goal of reducing dependency on other countries for military equipment and defense technologies. He insisted that Europe must produce sufficient weaponry to avoid relying on supplies from the U.S. or other nations.

Additionally, the French president expressed concerns over potential economic measures from the U.S., particularly increased tariffs on EU goods. He expressed hope that he could persuade Donald Trump to support European defense initiatives and maintain strong transatlantic relations.

Macron called on EU countries to enhance military cooperation and stated that key decisions on these matters will be made in the coming days. He stressed that Europe must prepare for new challenges and strengthen its independence in defense and security affairs.

These initiatives reflect France’s ambition to solidify its leadership in Europe and develop a more autonomous defense policy that considers modern geopolitical risks.
