Lavrov: Deployment of Peacekeepers in Ukraine Means Direct War with Russia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the possible deployment of a European peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine would be seen by Moscow as a direct military threat. He emphasized that such Western initiatives are part of a strategy to involve NATO in the conflict and warned that Russia would not leave this step unanswered.
Moscow’s Reaction
Lavrov stressed that discussions about deploying peacekeeping forces in the combat zone are being conducted with clearly hostile intentions. "We will categorically not stand by and simply watch such actions. This would no longer be a hybrid war but a direct, official, and overt involvement of NATO countries in the conflict against Russia. This is unacceptable," Lavrov declared.
