Kazakhstan's Citibank demands closure of ruble accounts by September 24
Citibank Kazakhstan has notified clients that it will stop working with ruble accounts. Companies must close ruble accounts and transfer services to other banks by September 24.
Citibank Kazakhstan has warned its clients about the need to close ruble accounts and stop servicing contracts in Russian currency. The bank's support service confirmed that by September 24, all companies with ruble accounts must close them and transfer ruble contracts for servicing to other financial institutions.
From September 24, the bank will stop accepting new currency contracts and servicing existing ones if the contract currency is Russian rubles or one of the parties to the contract is located in Russia. In addition to this, Citibank Kazakhstan also intends to stop any operations to convert currencies into rubles, which effectively means a complete cessation of work with the Russian currency.
This decision is likely due to current geopolitical and economic realities, as well as the tightening of regulatory measures regarding transactions related to Russia. The bank's clients are advised to promptly take measures to transfer their accounts and contracts in order to avoid possible financial difficulties.
