In Kazakhstan, patients will be able to receive compensation for medical errors. The decision on compensation will be made by an independent expert commission. Insurance payments will depend on the severity of the damage, and in the case of disability or death, they will reach significant amounts.
In Kazakhstan, patients will be able to receive compensation for medical errors in accordance with the new standards introduced in the law "On Amendments and Additions to some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on health issues," the ARFRR reports. To receive compensation, the patient must contact the medical organization where the service was provided. The issue of the presence of harm to health will be decided by an independent expert commission. If the patient does not agree with the decision, he can appeal it to the Medical and Pharmaceutical Control Committee of the Ministry of Health or in court. The amount of insurance payments depends on the severity of the damage. In case of disability of the third, second or first group, payments will amount to 1,846,000, 2,215,200 and 2,953,600 tenge, respectively. For children with disabilities, the compensation will amount to 1,846,000 tenge. In case of death of the patient, his relatives will receive 11,076,000 tenge.
