Kazakhstan has resumed the celebration of the Republic Day after a 13-year break
On October 25, Kazakhstan celebrates Republic Day again after a 13-year break. The initiative of President Tokayev returned the holiday to the status of a national holiday, emphasizing its historical significance for the country. The holiday is associated with the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR in 1990 and symbolizes the first step of Kazakhstan towards independence.
Kazakhstanis are once again celebrating Republic Day, which, after a 13-year break, has become a national holiday thanks to the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The holiday, established in honor of the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR on October 25, 1990, was canceled in 2009. However, in 2022, its status was restored as a symbol of Kazakhstan's bold step towards statehood. President Tokayev stressed that the significance of Republic Day now lies in emphasizing state sovereignty, and Independence Day has become a day of remembrance of national heroes.
