Japan has taken on the development of infrastructure and social support in Afghanistan, announcing the construction of 165 schools in 9 Afghan provinces. According to the Japanese ambassador to Kabul, Tokyo will also allocate $10 million to combat drugs and $300,000 for the National Museum in Kabul.

In addition, among the areas of support, subsidies for the cultivation of alternative poppy varieties are indicated, which should help Afghan farmers switch to less harmful crops. This is an important step in the fight against drugs, given that Afghanistan has long been the largest opium producer in the world.

Ironically, previous US efforts to combat poppy fields at the dawn of the 2000s were very ineffective, when "planted and destroyed themselves", and even managed to harvest the crop. Japan seems to be seeking to avoid such mistakes and make a significant contribution to the stabilization of the region.
