In the second quarter of 2024, direct investment from EU countries to China reached a record level of €3.6 billion, which is the highest in a decade, according to the American research company Rhodium. The main contribution was made by Germany, which accounted for more than half of the EU's investments in the Chinese economy. German companies such as BMW and BASF have become investment leaders, mainly in the automotive and chemical industries, which underscores the importance of the Chinese market for German businesses.
