In the United States, an investigation has been launched into the Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) autonomous driving system after four accidents, one of which was fatal. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will cover 2.4 million Tesla vehicles equipped with the FSD system. All accidents occurred when visibility deteriorated with the system turned on. If it is proven that FSD poses an unreasonable risk, Tesla may be required to recall its vehicles. Tesla claims that FSD requires driver supervision and is not a fully autonomous system.
