How the new Anti-Fraud Center of the National Bank of Kazakhstan works
The National Bank of Kazakhstan launched the Anti-Fraud Center to combat fraud, which allows banks, law enforcement agencies and telecom operators to share data on suspicious transactions in real time. The center does not have access to all customer transactions and only deals with fraud-related incidents.
In early August 2024, the National Bank of Kazakhstan launched a new Anti-Fraud Center, which operates on the platform of the National Payment Corporation and monitors suspicious transactions around the clock. This system allows financial organizations, law enforcement agencies and telecommunications operators to promptly exchange information on possible fraudulent transactions.
The center's work process includes several stages. When a suspicious transaction is detected, the bank temporarily suspends it and transmits the information to the Anti-Fraud Center. The Center, in its turn, sends this data to law enforcement agencies, which within three working days determine whether the fraud has actually taken place. If the fraud is confirmed, the client's information is entered into a special database.
It is important to note that the Anti-Fraud Center does not track all customer transactions, but only those that may be related to fraud. Also, the employees of the Center do not interact with individuals directly and do not make calls. This project is aimed solely at ensuring the security of financial transactions and protecting clients from fraudulent schemes.
