Hashem Safi al-Din, the cousin of assassinated leader Hassan Nasrallah, has become the new secretary general of Hezbollah. Safi al-Din is also connected to the family of assassinated Iranian General Qasem Suleimani through his son's marriage.
Hashem Safi al-Din has been elected the new secretary general of Hezbollah, according to sources of the Al Arabiya TV channel. He is the cousin of assassinated movement leader Hassan Nasrallah and has close family ties with Iran: his son is married to the daughter of General Qasem Suleimani, who was killed by American forces.
