Gold of Kyrgyzstan
altn.news - covers the scandal unfolding in the socio-political space of Kyrgyzstan
This is a video that has been circulated in the Kyrgyz segment of the Internet, on which certain people move ingots that look like gold and boxes of gold, with one of the voices behind the scenes of the video talking about a certain "Sabyr Ave" and informing that the gold is ready to be shipped outside of Kyrgyzstan, that the gold is ready to be shipped out of Kyrgyzstan, and the boxes with gold are labeled with several abbreviations - "IKU" and "IATA", which coincides with the codes of the airports "Issyk-Kul" in Kyrgyzstan and "Larnaca" in Cyprus.

Presumably, the reference to "Sabyr Ava" may refer to the Kyrgyz president's older brother, Sabyr Zhaparov, who is co-owner of the construction company Pilon LLC, director of the Kyrgyz-Russian company Trest Oil, and deputy general director of Zhyrgalan Mine OJSC, and the gold belonging to him could indeed be being prepared for shipment to the Mediterranean state, but the head of the Kyrgyz president's press service, Dayyrbek Orunbekov, called the video a "fake" and said it was edited by civil activists.
The GKNB of Kyrgyzstan also reacted to the scandal and doubted the authenticity of the published video. The situation was also commented on personally by the President of Kyrgyzstan, who, in turn, said that people who steal Kyrgyz gold and export it to other countries would not record the crime on video and spread it on social networks. At the same time, the authorities apparently intend to blame civil activist Askhat Osmonov, a former member of the Chon Kazat party and former advisor to the mayor of Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, who has previously carried out various kinds of provocations in Kyrgyzstan's socio-political space, for misinformation and the creation of the video.
For example, earlier, in April 2024, at the suggestion of the same civil activist Askhat Osmonov, a letter allegedly written on behalf of the former deputy chairman of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan, Rayimbek Matraimov, was published in the Kyrgyz segment of the Internet, in which it was reported that during the "October events" of 2020 in Kyrgyzstan, Matraimov transferred about 3 million dollars to the current, incumbent president of Kyrgyzstan, but the information was not confirmed and was later officially denied.
It should be noted that Osmonov is known for his critical statements against the Kyrgyz authorities, dissemination of false reports and unethical appeals concerning the socio-political situation in Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, nothing is known about the exact whereabouts of the civil activist, but it was reported that Osmonov is trying to obtain political asylum in the United States and continues his usual practice of spreading false information from outside Kyrgyzstan.
It is noteworthy that the brother of the current president of the country, Sadyr Zhaparov, was probably not accidentally chosen as a target for the scandal, back in 2022, a picture of the brother of the president of Kyrgyzstan with gold bars in his hands appeared in the network. Such a photo appeared in the Kyrgyz segment of the Internet on the background of another scandal related to the classification of information about the sale of more than 19 tons of gold mined at the gold mine "Kumtor" for the amount of 1 billion dollars. However, the Kyrgyz president then confirmed the authenticity of the photo, and admitted that his brother Sabyr Zhaparov was indeed negotiating with foreign financial institutions on the possible sale of precious metal in 2021, when the London Bullion Market (LBMA) imposed temporary restrictions on Kyrgyzaltyn JSC as the official organization entitled to sell Kyrgyz gold.
