Erdogan: Turkey has banned the plane of the President of Israel from crossing its airspace
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the plane of the President of Israel had not received permission to cross Turkish airspace for a visit to Azerbaijan on COP29.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, where the G20 summit was held, that Turkey had not allowed the plane of Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog to cross its airspace. This was due to the Duke's planned visit to Baku to participate in the COP29 climate summit. "As you know, we have completely severed trade relations with Israel. Regarding the visit of the President of Israel to Azerbaijan for the COP29 summit, we did not allow him to use our airspace. There are other routes, and he has other ways to get there. I do not know if he was there in the end. But we, Turkey, are now obliged to demonstrate our position on a number of issues, and we will do it," Erdogan said. Earlier, the Office of the President of Israel announced the cancellation of the Duke's visit to Azerbaijan, citing security reasons. Turkey's move underscores the deterioration of diplomatic relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv, as well as Erdogan's determination to promote a tough stance on key international issues.
