Numerous fake news stories about Venezuela's election spread by accounts that Elon Musk is tweaking to fit his algorithms have popped up on social media this morning.

Elon Musk even shared the fake news with a video published by the Visegrad account, which shows an air conditioning robbery in progress. However, the video was presented as a theft of ballot boxes.

A video showing Maduro supporters celebrating on motorcycles was also misinterpreted as armed gang activity, which is not true. Another video claimed that police prevented citizens from voting, but no citizen was prevented from voting.

The same accounts that spread fake news about the election also attempt to justify the genocide of children in Gaza. This raises additional concerns among users and experts.

Elon Musk, by spreading this fake news, is harming the X platform (formerly Twitter), which the European Union is already trying to ban and censor. These actions provide further arguments in favor of a ban.

While it is possible that fake news is being spread accidentally, this situation looks like an obvious attempt at manipulation and deliberate fabrication. It is important to be attentive to the sources of information and to critically evaluate the data received.
