Donald Trump has introduced a new immigration program that will allow affluent foreigners to purchase the right to reside in the U.S. and eventually obtain citizenship. Under this plan, applicants will be able to acquire an exclusive "Golden Card" for $5 million, which will ultimately lead to an American passport.

"You have a green card. And this is a golden card," Trump said while presenting the new program. He emphasized that this mechanism will replace the previous EB-5 visa program, which was also designed to attract foreign investors.

The sale of "Golden Cards" will begin in two weeks, and the president is confident that the program will generate significant interest among the wealthy worldwide. Trump believes this initiative will attract new investors to the U.S., who will pay millions in taxes and stimulate the country's economy.

A program for the wealthy: A new immigration concept
The American green card has always been a cherished dream for millions of immigrants, but obtaining it requires a complex process involving work visas, investments, long-term residence, and extensive bureaucracy. Now, Trump is offering an alternative path for the wealthiest individuals – a "subscription" to the U.S.

This system aligns perfectly with Trump's business-oriented approach. Instead of waiting for someone to create jobs or invest in the economy through EB-5, his administration proposes a simplified scheme: simply pay $5 million to secure permanent residency and, eventually, citizenship.

How the new program will work
While the official details of the program have not been disclosed yet, it is known that applicants will be required to:

  • Invest $5 million in the U.S. economy (possibly through a government fund or bonds).
  • Undergo a background check.
  • Prove the legality of their financial sources.
  • Await approval and receive the Golden Card, which will function as a green card but with an expedited path to citizenship.

It is expected that this system will attract wealthy investors from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America who are seeking a fast and reliable immigration route to the U.S.

The issue of Russian oligarchs
When journalists asked Trump whether Russian oligarchs could participate in the program, he smiled and replied:
"Yes, possibly. I know a few of them; they’re very nice people."

This comment sparked controversy, considering U.S. sanctions against certain Russian businessmen. However, Trump has repeatedly stated that he prefers a business-driven approach to international relations and is willing to welcome those who contribute to the American economy.

A green card for ordinary people, a "Golden Card" for the elite
The "Golden Card" program will introduce a new tier in U.S. immigration policy. The green card, which many obtain through employment, education, or the lottery, will remain accessible to most, but an exclusive route—a paid "VIP access" to America—will be available for the elite.

This move aligns with Trump's business logic. Instead of enduring lengthy bureaucratic processes, the government will sell privileges to the wealthy, creating an exclusive service for those who can afford it.

If this program gains Congressional approval and becomes operational, it could transform the U.S. immigration system, making it more accessible to wealthy foreigners while simultaneously making immigration more challenging for ordinary applicants.
