China's SpaceSail will be an alternative to Starlink in Brazil
SpaceSail will launch the Qianfan network in 2026 to provide Internet in remote areas of Brazil, reducing dependence on Starlink.
The Chinese company SpaceSail announced the launch of the Qianfan satellite network (Thousand Sails) in 2026. This initiative aims to provide Internet access in remote areas of Brazil, including schools and hospitals.
The project contributes to the digital transformation of the country and provides an alternative to the existing dominance of Starlink, which currently controls 46% of the satellite Internet market in Brazil. The Qianfan initiative is designed to diversify Internet service providers and reduce Brazil's dependence on one company, strengthening competition and improving the quality of communication.
