China unveils HQ-19 interception system and J-35A stealth fighter at Zhuhai Expo — local media
At Airshow China 2024, China demonstrated the HQ-19 system, designed to intercept medium-range ballistic missiles, and the latest fifth-generation fighter jet, the J-35A. These developments strengthen China's position against the background of global competitors in the field of military technology.
China presented two latest military developments at the international aviation exhibition Airshow China 2024 in Zhuhai: the HQ-19 system and the fifth-generation J-35A fighter. The HQ-19 system is designed to intercept medium-range ballistic missiles (1000-3000 km) and is considered a competitor to the American THAAD system. It is equipped with a kinetic warhead capable of intercepting targets at significant altitudes. The J-35A fighter jet, shown for the first time at this exhibition, is a fifth-generation multi-purpose aircraft designed for high-tech combat missions, including the ability to operate on aircraft carriers. This makes the J35A a competitor to other fifth-generation fighters such as the F-22 Raptor, F-35 Lightning II, Russian Su-57, South Korean KF-21 and Turkish KAAN.
