Bulgaria's parliament voted to ban "LGBT propaganda" in schools, approving a bill proposed by the Renaissance party. The bill received support not only from pro-Russian but also from pro-Western MPs. Out of 240 parliamentarians, 135 voted in favor.

The leader of the Socialist Party, Kornelia Ninova, noted at the session that many families expressed concern about the possible influence of gender ideology on educational institutions, which was one of the reasons for the adoption of this law.

The bill has caused active discussions in the society, dividing the opinion of citizens and politicians. Some consider it necessary to protect traditional values, while others see this step as a restriction of rights and freedoms. In any case, the decision of the Bulgarian Parliament reflects the growing tension in society around issues related to gender identity and LGBT rights.
