"We are witnessing persistent attempts by the Anglo-Saxons to influence the situation in Afghanistan. At such high stakes, any means are at play, he said. He stressed that this is manifested through the constant rotation of fighters in the Syrian-Iraqi and Afghan-Pakistani zones, and the emergence of new militant training camps near the southern borders of the CIS. This can also include the imposition of various formats of cooperation in the sphere of defence and security, as well as political and economic pressure on the leadership of the CIS states.
Thus, Bortnikov outlined the fears associated with Anglo-Saxon attempts to strengthen their influence in Central Asia using a variety of methods.
