Beijing Declares Readiness to Confront the U.S. to the End
The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. has stated that Washington must treat Beijing as an equal partner. An official statement emphasized: "If the U.S. truly wants to solve the fentanyl problem, the right approach would be to consult with China, treating each other as equals. If war is what the U.S. wants—be it a tariff war, a trade war, or any other kind of war—we are ready to fight to the end."

The escalation in relations follows an executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump to raise tariffs on Chinese imports from 10% to 20%. Washington accuses Beijing of insufficient efforts to combat the smuggling of the synthetic opioid fentanyl. In response, China rejects these accusations, calling them a pretext for imposing additional trade barriers.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, stressed that "applying extreme pressure on China is the wrong goal and a miscalculation." He added that Beijing is prepared to resist any form of pressure, whether it be a tariff war, trade war, or any other economic confrontation.
In response to U.S. actions, China has imposed tariffs of up to 15% on American agricultural products and restricted supplies of Chinese goods to 15 U.S. corporations. Additionally, Beijing has added 10 American companies to its "Unreliable Entities List" due to their military cooperation with Taiwan, effectively banning trade with China and revoking visas for their executives.
The escalation of the trade conflict between the world’s two largest economies is raising concerns on the international stage, as it could have serious consequences for global economic stability.
