AZAL and El Al Sign a Codeshare Agreement
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and Israeli airline El Al have announced the signing of a codeshare agreement that will soon come into effect. Under this agreement, passengers of both airlines will be able to book tickets on partner flights under their respective airline codes, increasing flight frequency and simplifying travel between the two countries.
This agreement is particularly beneficial for transit passengers, as El Al’s code (LY) will eventually be added to AZAL’s connecting flights. This will allow travelers from Israel to reach other cities in Azerbaijan and various destinations in the CIS, Europe, and Asia with greater ease.
AZAL and El Al have been cooperating in air transportation for several years, but the signing of the codeshare agreement marks a new stage in their partnership. This step aims to strengthen tourism and business ties between the two countries while enhancing convenience and quality in air travel.
According to AZAL’s press service, the number of passengers traveling on the Tel Aviv – Baku route has been increasing in recent years. In 2024, passenger traffic between the two capitals grew by 15%, highlighting the importance of the new agreement for travelers and the aviation industry.
