Apple has warned iPhone users in 98 countries about spyware attacks
Apple has warned iPhone users in 98 countries, including India, of targeted spying attacks related to the victims' professional activities. The company urges users to take precautions and take the threats seriously.
For the second time this year, Apple is warning owners of its devices about hacker attacks. This time, iPhone users in 98 countries, including India, received notifications, Meduza reported.
According to Apple, the attacks were targeted and related to the victims' professional activities or status. The company has now changed the wording, calling the incidents "spy attacks" instead of "state-sponsored hacker attacks." Apple emphasizes the seriousness of the threat and urges users to take the warning responsibly.
In India, some journalists and politicians received similar notices back in October last year. Then the human rights organization Amnesty International discovered Pegasus spyware in their iPhones, developed by Israeli company NSO Group.
Apple says it relies solely on its own data and investigations to identify such threats. The company does not disclose details about the attacks and vulnerabilities themselves.
