AP-NORC Poll: Majority of Americans are against arms supplies and financing to Israel
A recent AP-NORC poll showed that a majority of Americans, including Republicans, oppose the supply of weapons and financial support to Israel, as well as the deployment of troops. However, just over half of registered voters support U.S. economic sanctions against Iran. The survey was conducted on October 14, 2024 among 1,072 adults.
According to the latest poll conducted by the Associated Press in conjunction with the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, the majority of Americans oppose providing military and financial assistance to Israel. A survey conducted on October 14, 2024 among 1,072 adults revealed that a significant proportion of respondents, including representatives of both parties, do not support the supply of weapons and financing to the Israeli side. In addition, the survey showed that the majority of Americans are against the deployment of American troops to support Israel. However, just over half of registered voters support the imposition of economic sanctions against Iran. These results reflect the complex and ambiguous attitude of the American public towards U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, especially in the context of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian factions. The poll also found that about 6 out of 10 voters believe that the Palestinian Hamas group, the Iranian government and the Lebanese Hezbollah group are significantly responsible for the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. About 4 in 10 voters believe that the Israeli government also bears significant responsibility, and only about 2 in 10 place significant responsibility on the U.S. government.
