Speaking to journalists, Zelensky noted that negotiations took place under difficult conditions, but an optimal solution was ultimately reached.

"The agreement on minerals is ready. There were many options, but now we have one final version, and it is ready. Ministers can sign it anywhere. We can do it. We are not backing out of this," the Ukrainian leader stated.

He emphasized that this step is part of Ukraine’s strategic policy. Despite past political differences, Kyiv intends to continue cooperation with Washington.

"This is part of our policy. We will continue communication despite what happened in the past. We have already agreed to sign it. Honestly, I believe the U.S. is also ready to do so," Zelensky added.

The agreement covers the extraction and supply of rare earth metals, which are essential components in the production of electronics, batteries, and military equipment. The U.S. is seeking to diversify its supply chains for critical resources, reducing its dependence on China, which remains the world's largest supplier of rare earth elements.

Previously, Washington had signed similar agreements with Canada and Australia, confirming its strategic interest in developing rare earth metal extraction outside of China. With significant reserves of these resources, Ukraine is seen as a promising partner in this field.

If the agreement is signed, it could strengthen economic ties between Ukraine and the U.S. and provide Kyiv with additional investments in the mining sector. For the U.S., this will be an important step in securing a stable supply of rare earth metals necessary for high-tech industries.
