In Iran’s capital, one of the most remarkable private homes in the Middle East stands out — a townhouse with “living” rooms that can transform into open balconies. Built in 2013 for a private family, the building has since become an architectural icon in Tehran.

The house’s façade is made up of movable elements: entire sections of rooms rotate outward when needed, turning into balconies. This design allows residents to control light exposure and openness depending on the time of day and weather, offering comfort in Tehran’s urban climate.

The townhouse spans seven floors, including underground levels. The lower floors feature a gym, pool, sauna, and billiard room. The upper levels house spacious living areas with high ceilings, panoramic windows, and modern infrastructure.

The project was designed with local climate conditions in mind and prioritizes energy efficiency. The movable façade helps regulate indoor temperatures and reduces energy consumption, while also dynamically reshaping the building’s appearance.

This home showcases how modern technology can integrate with residential architecture to create functional, adaptive, and visually striking spaces.
