Tanker Collides with Ship Carrying Cyanide and Alcohol
According to Sky News, a collision occurred in the North Sea off the eastern coast of Yorkshire between an American tanker and a Portuguese cargo ship. As a result of the accident, one person went missing. The American tanker "Stena Immaculate," which was carrying fuel for military aircraft, collided with the cargo ship, which was also carrying dangerous goods, including sodium cyanide and alcohol.
After the collision, dozens of people evacuated the ships to escape potential threats. All 22 crew members of the tanker were found safe, however, one of the 14 crew members of the Portuguese vessel is still listed as missing. One of the 36 crew members of the cargo ship was hospitalized with injuries. Due to the threat of leaks and potential contamination of the accident area, a quarantine has been imposed within a five-mile radius.
The cargo ship was carrying 15 containers of the highly toxic substance sodium cyanide, which increases the risks to the ecology and safety of the region. The responsible authorities have already begun an investigation into the cause of the incident.
