Russia to Consider Washington's Proposal for Ceasefire in Eastern Ukraine
Russia is ready to consider the US proposal for a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine, but a full end to military actions is only possible after a peace agreement is reached. This was stated by Russia's Ambassador to the UK, Andrei Kelin, who emphasized that the key condition for Russia is the creation of conditions for long-term peace and regional stabilization.
Moscow has presented Washington with a list of demands for achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine, stressing that any ceasefire actions must consider Russia's interests and ensure sustainable peace. Kelin also added that diplomatic efforts must focus on reaching an agreement that will not be temporary but serve as the foundation for further conflict resolution.
Furthermore, the Kremlin insists that the cessation of hostilities must occur in the context of broader political agreements, which include security issues, territorial control, and political settlement. These conditions remain important for Russia, and its representatives state that the peace agreement must ensure long-term stability, not just a temporary lull.
