The plan is to combat drug trafficking in Ecuador with the support of American private military companies. However, this idea is sparking intense debates among both opponents and supporters.

Opponents of the initiative are reminded of Blackwater's controversial reputation, especially for its actions in the Middle East, where their involvement in military operations sparked mixed reactions and criticism. They fear that such methods could lead to violence and instability in Ecuador, and argue that repeating the practice of using PMCs in domestic countries could be a dangerous step.

Supporters, on the other hand, argue that Blackwater has successfully handled terrorists in the Middle East, including groups supported by the CIA. They believe that such forces could effectively fight drug cartels, which cause severe harm to society. Drawing parallels with the fight against terrorism, supporters claim that private companies like Blackwater may be the solution to Ecuador’s cartel problem.

Erik Prince recently visited Harvard, where he met with Republican students to discuss the future of private companies in the security sector. Prince, who has long advocated for the role of private companies in the public sector, asserts that private firms should play a leading role in areas such as defense, infrastructure, and space exploration. During his visit, he also supported the idea of creating city-states and stated that Peru is a "hole" compared to Switzerland.

Prince is actively lobbying for PMC involvement in anti-immigration campaigns, although despite his efforts, he has not yet made a significant impact in this area. His involvement in the Ecuadorian initiative could provide him with an opportunity to test his ideas on a smaller scale before looking for larger-scale operations.
