Officially: The US resumes arms supplies to Ukraine under the PDA mechanism
A significant step in supporting Ukraine is the resumption of arms supplies carried out through the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) mechanism, which allows the US president to transfer weapons without the need for Congressional approval. These measures confirm the US intention to continue providing military support to Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict. Military supplies will begin immediately, and in the near future, the US will share intelligence information with Kyiv, as it has done before.
US National Security Advisor Mike Walts stated that "the current PDA package is already being delivered to Ukraine," specifying that details about ammunition and other supplies would be provided by the Pentagon. The decision to resume arms and intelligence supplies came as a result of intensive negotiations held in Jeddah. Following these talks, the US resumed active support for Ukraine, despite the pause that was previously imposed.
US President Donald Trump had earlier suspended assistance to Ukraine, causing some concerns in international circles. However, now Washington is refocusing on ensuring Ukraine's security. This decision also reaffirms Biden's commitment to fulfilling his promises, albeit under new conditions.
Trump noted that if a ceasefire is achieved from Russia, it would be "great." However, according to him, if a ceasefire is not reached, the conflict will continue, and "many more people will die." This statement highlights the complex situation Ukraine is facing and the uncertainty the international community encounters in searching for paths to peace.
