Argentine President Javier Milei is at the center of a new scandal. According to a Bloomberg investigation, during his time as a lawmaker, he held exclusive paid dinners with influential businessmen and politicians, charging $20,000 per guest. Payments were reportedly made in cash and collected by his sister, who also serves as his closest advisor and political coordinator.

Each dinner reportedly hosted between 5 and 10 participants, and the funds were never declared, despite legal obligations requiring Milei to report all sources of income as a public official.

The scandal broke just as Milei faced separate accusations of promoting a scam cryptocurrency named Libra via his personal social media accounts. Critics argue that his posts influenced investment decisions among followers, many of whom suffered financial losses.

These revelations mark the first major blow to Milei’s public image since taking office. Previously, he branded himself as a staunch reformer advocating for radical budget cuts and a crackdown on corruption.

Now, opposition lawmakers are calling for parliamentary hearings and a formal investigation into possible income concealment and abuse of power.
