The Kazakh Ministry of Energy has completed negotiations with potential suppliers and selected four finalists from leading nuclear nations:
- Rosatom (Russia) – A state-owned nuclear giant with projects in Belarus, Turkey, India, and China.
- KHNP (South Korea) – A Korean company involved in nuclear power plant construction in the UAE.
- CNNC (China) – China’s largest nuclear corporation, developing domestic and international projects.
- EDF (France) – Europe’s leading nuclear power plant operator.
What’s Next?
- Kazakhstan held talks with each bidder, including visits to Korea, France, China, and Russia.
- The final contractor selection is expected in 2025.
- President Tokayev has ordered an accelerated construction timeline and is exploring a second NPP.
