Israeli military forces today conducted a large-scale operation in southern Syria, targeting areas in Daraa province. According to local sources, the goal of the operation was to expand Israel's military presence in border areas. However, the advance was halted due to armed resistance from local residents and units aligned with the Syrian side.

During the clashes, an Israeli convoy advancing into western Daraa fell into an ambush. The troops were forced to withdraw personnel and equipment from the combat zone. Videos published online show Israeli soldiers leaving occupied positions and evacuating vehicles.

There is no official confirmation of Israeli casualties so far. Reports indicate that the operation was conducted under limited visibility and in difficult terrain, complicating offensive maneuvers. Regional sources claim Israeli troops encountered organized resistance, including small arms fire and mobile ambushes.

On the Syrian side, four fatalities have been confirmed. Units operating in Daraa continue to hold a number of strategic points in the region. The escalation occurred amid ongoing tensions along Syria’s southern border, where previous incidents involving Israeli airstrikes and special forces had already been reported.

The flare-up in southern Syria has drawn the attention of international observers, as the region remains one of the most unstable zones in the Middle East. Daraa province is traditionally considered strategically important due to its border with Jordan and proximity to the Golan Heights.

Syrian authorities have repeatedly accused Israel of violating sovereignty and committing acts of aggression on Syrian territory. Israel, in turn, claims the need to counter armed groups linked to Iran and Hezbollah operating in the region.

The operation in Daraa province is seen as part of a broader confrontation unfolding in the border areas. In the coming days, a retaliatory response or intensification of military activity in the region is possible. Official statements from either side on the current events are still absent.
