European Leaders Discuss Ways to Achieve Peace in Ukraine
During a summit on Ukraine, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stressed that Russia will not be allowed to impose conditions on a future peace agreement. According to him, the negotiation process must consider the interests of Ukraine and its allies, rather than Moscow’s position alone.
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that European troops will not be deployed to Ukraine in the coming weeks. He clarified that such discussions would only be possible if a stable ceasefire is reached and broad diplomatic consensus is established. Macron also emphasized that Europe should not be afraid to make independent security decisions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the need for coordinated efforts between Europe and the US to ensure peace and stability. He stated that cooperation with allies must be built on a strong foundation and reflect the region’s long-term interests. According to Zelensky, only joint efforts can guarantee Ukraine’s security.
The summit also focused on strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, including potential increases in arms supplies and financial assistance. European leaders reaffirmed their commitment to long-term support for Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia.
The situation remains tense, and key decisions have yet to be made. However, the summit demonstrated that European nations are committed to unity and ready to take further steps to ensure Ukraine’s security.
